Do you read?

September 16th, 2008

I read. I usually read on the train to work and in bed - and whenever I can. That is to say - when I’m not sewing, knitting, crotcheting or listening to podcasts… or doing housework (but I try not to do that…).

I now only read books on my Iphone. Tried that yet? I love it. My little book now fit in my purse no matter how many pages the book is - and I don’t need a light for reading in bed. You can also use your Ipod Touch or something like it.

If you like to know more about books or about reading ebooks, check out this wonderful new site: Ipodreader. And I’m not bias - his just my husband… and no I don’t like all the books he reads - but most.

Moving in

September 9th, 2008

We’ve been living here for two weeks plus now and we’re loving it. It’s everything we hoped for and more… just need to sell our wonderful apartment. We had 7 great years there and until this house showed up it was our dream home. Now we’re waiting for someone else having that same feeling.

Moving house

August 31st, 2008

I’m sorry a new update isn’t coming just yet. We’ve just moved and the only thing I’ve made the last few weeks were new curtains for Jenny. As soon as “my room” is furnished and decorated I’ll post pictures.

My shawl - my first real one

August 10th, 2008

Here it is. This is what I’m doing while my sewing machine is waiting patiently for us to move into our new home …. I’m just waiting. I got the suggestion to make this from Fidusfanteri. It’s called Eva’s shawl and I got the pattern here: Without Seams. It’s not finished yet, but I’m getting there.

Back to work - here is some more pics from my summer

August 2nd, 2008

At the house were I grew up, my dads now, I found a potholder - still in use. I made this in 8th grade or something. Little did I know then that I would be sewing as much as I do now.

Here you can see me crocheting while waiting for my pizza. My yarn and hook fitted perfectly in my bag this summer, so everywhere I would go I would take it with me. I wouldn’t say I produced that much, but I had fun. Further down you can see the result from my summer.

Here I am again checking to see if there is any yarn screaming to me: take me home…

My summerproductivity: Three scarves. They are not done yet, I need to put “it” on them. I know what I’m looking for, hopefully they’ll be finished by christmas…

As to the Kanuiyarn - do you have a suggestion as to what I should make with it?? All ideas are welcome. It’s a 150g.

And finally a picture from of our latest hobby. Geocashing. We had so much fun locating this little box, finding treasures, putting treasures back into it. This is something we’ll definitly do more of. It takes us out on a little hiking and we get to know new places around Oslo. Have you tried it yet?

Inventivness…

July 16th, 2008

I don’t know if that is a word, however we went to Rottneros Park in Sweden and in additon to the beautiful garden there were many areas where kids could play. At first I didn’t see them as they blended beautifully with the forrest.

Who wouldn’t want to live in a house like this?

Here you can see the threeclimbing area for kids - you have to look carefully to see it all!

Summer activities

July 13th, 2008

My girls got a playhouse from my father. We’re staying in his house as part of our summer holiday. It’s great fun, lots of relaxation and the girls can do so many things on their own. My small contribution was sewing the curtains.

Here you see Emily preparing coffee and tea (for me as I don’t drink coffee…).

And since we’re moving (just had to say it one more time) and on vacation this is my summerproject. Dishcloths..

Check it out: My mother in law has a blog!

June 30th, 2008

Grete has finally gotten around to writing her own blog. And you should visit it, and make a comment. Why? Because she knows about everything there is to know about knitting, and she has written this wonderful knitting book called “Varmekilder” filled with wonderful hats, scarves, mittens and the most wonderful socks. If you love knitting socks with pattern let her know. The book is now out of print, but Grete is working on selling her patterns through her website.

Go make her day - comment!

Have a great summer - and more sewing related stuff will be back around September. See you then.
