Just a little post…

January 18th, 2009

All day today I’ve been trying to sew… but I’ve been drawn to other things, watching sports on TV, surfing, work out, watching childrens TV… putting children to bed…

This is how far I’ve got: (I hope the picture doesn’t show that I actually sewed the “pictures” on the back - and had to sew new ones on the front… and now I have to put in pockets as well..)

Since christmas lasts until Easter….

Here you can see how they are made: Make two 5 inch square, cut in two and sew as shown (sew the two different pieces together first). Cut a small hole to turn it right side out. Put a gold thread in the top - voila - an ornament.

Have a good one..

Early bird? Or just very late?

January 5th, 2009

I know I’m not the only one finally having the time to sew for christmas. I have to do it now while I’m in the mood. I’ve also been sewing two bags, the one shown here is for my mother. She bought the fabric and I was to do the sewing. In return I got a very beautiful Japanse quilting book. The bag took about an hour or two to sew.

I found the inspiration for the pigs here, and I made a tutorial if you feel like sewing a pig.

And if you wonder what our starter were on new years eve?

Favourites from 2008

January 4th, 2009

I will be back, blogging about once a week. After new year I have had time to sew, and have been sewing christmas ornaments - you will see more in my next entry.

Thank you for visiting my blog - and as always I love a comment!!!
I love a penguin - always. This is the only new one from 2008:

This tote was an “ufo” for a long time. I used the wrong lining and it really didn’t work. Finally I took it apart, and made a new lining. Now it’s my favourite tote. (And as you can see, my pictures finally got bigger…..)

My last quilt - it’s definitely time for another (my good friend Berit had her boy Mattia baptised in November without a quilt from me… ). This was made for another baptism.

This dress was, and still is, used a lot. I’m very pleased with the result and will be sewing more of these for the summer.

My first shawl, which I love but have misplaced…..

Are you looking for a nice quick gift?

I really liked sewing this, and now you can too:

Kids

Do you remember the night gown I was going to sew. It’s ready!! Well… that’s what is so nice about fleece, if it’s missing a couple of seams it will not unravel… and she loves it.. goal accomplished.

This is why we moved: a picnic outside our frontdoor with a best friend.

A little bit tired girl - what to do? Take a showerbath… with a “bucket”, lots of Barbies and steam.

Blogvacation

October 24th, 2008

As you probably have figured out by now, I don’t really blog anymore. I have therefore decided to take a blogbreak and see if that doesn’t help me to be more relaxed and creative.

Just for now, life is enough.

If you want to reach me, you can leave me a comment and it’ll show up in my mailbox. Have fun being creative.

Time for tea, anyone?

October 10th, 2008

Jenny and I play “Rummikub” almost every night. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s a great game for playing around with groups and rows of numbers - and changing them within the rules. I mostly win, still, but she is getting good and soon my little girl will beat me a lot.

If you come and visit us, you probably will be invited into Emilys room for tea. Maybe you will be served: an apple, pears,  ice cream, sponge cake, bacon, broccoli and cauliflower, strawberrieshot dog, a toast or any of these.

I don’t think many.. any of these ever will be made by me, but I love them. They are so great!!

Organizing and home alone

October 2nd, 2008

I’m getting to the point where there is hope of reaching the sewing machine by this evening. Too bad the kids got hungry and wanted something to eat (well, I got hugry too..). I’m so thrilled. Now what to make? I have to finish the fleece night gown of course, but then what?

I want to make these felted cakes for Emily. She loves to invite everybody to a tea party and for that you need cakes, right?

Or this door hanging for Jenny and Emily. It would be so much fun to add a little something out of the ordinary to their room - and I just know they would love it.  However I don’t really know what fabric to use for that? Shopping???

Maybe something for me or as a gift, like the cozy scarf from Amy Butler? And a bonus, the pattern is or free! yeah!

As many have already expressed, christmas is coming this year too. And I just love these trees. I don’t think I can not make them!! What do you think?

Amy Butler must feature more than once! I have promised my mom to make her a bag like this. And I want one too. And I have the perfect fabric for it - bought at the quilting show we went to toghter.

A thimble and thread organizer is something “everybody” made a year ago. I’m always behind, and still thinking….

And this is just counting my links for great patterns I want to make. I have “a ton” of books with lots of great and inspirational projects. How to choose? How do you choose your projects, when you have ten in your head, ten started, ten almost completed and then uses all your time looking for that something yet again??

One of our cameras is in for repairs (for the third time!!!) and since Tormod left for a vacation in the States (without me!!! but with promises of lots of fabric) he has the second camera with him. Jennys camera has yet to be located after the move (or in the mess of her room). And as I’m not good at stealing pictures from websites - this is what you get. I hope you enjoy the links as much as I do.

We’ve sold our home for the last seven years..

September 28th, 2008

Finally, we sold our appartement last week. We had it “styled” for showings with our belongings, so as soon as it was sold we went and got the rest of our stuff. Wow, I didn’t know we had that much left over there!!! Anyhow, we are thrilled to have sold it at an acceptable price - and that we finally have our sofa here with us.
However, this means a lot of organizing and cleaning. I’ll be back with much more interesting blogposts soon.

I’m working on a night gown for Emily in fleece. I promised it to her last weekend - seems like she has to wait another week. Now it’s time for a movie and some knitting…. just doing nothing.

Ufo or Wip?

September 18th, 2008

I like to do handwork while watching tv, but when I’m not I like to sew on my sewing machine. As most of my sewing includes some hand sewing - and since I like to crotchet and sometimes knit I always have plenty of Work In Progress. Here is my wip basket that I keep by the sofa.

In the back you can see my latest “bag”. Nearly finished. I’ll show more when it’s done.
